Pammies, the eagerly awaited awards ceremony!

By Tom on June 25th, 2010

The Pammies was hosted by The College at Braintree and held the opportunities for the cast and crew to win any of the 20 awards on offer.

The first award for Justlikethat came for Best title sequence of the films shown,  this was purely to Charlie for his work on the HD footage involved in the title sequence.

Then came the award for Best crew for our shared efforts in pre production and on set, followed by Best lighting award which was obtained for our lighting effect which simulated darkness and moonlight at 3PM on a sunny spring day.

The night drew on, Liam accepted the prixe for his well deserved location sound which was pronounced as having immaculate qualities.

The cast then took their award for best ensemble acting, for their ability to work flawlessly between each other, creating an engaging and enjoyable tension in the film.

David gladly accepted his award for Best Script, having been the most justified and improved upon of the scripts in the group.

Finally came the award for Best director, awarded to myself for the creative and smooth management of an already effective team.  I would like to thank the other directors, casts, crews, and teachers respectively as they were the inspiration to work to, the bench mark if you like, which gave me an ongoing goal to ensure we worked well as a team.

This gave the cast and crew of Forgotten Pasts a collective of 7 awards, the most obtained out of the 3 groups.

I would like to thank you to all those who attended and a great way to cap off our time at college, it has easily been my best 2 years in education, having faced some big challenges and then having the success and pay off such as this award ceremony really makes it worth all of the effort and stress that went into every production at college.

The Final Render is Near!

By Tom on March 29th, 2010

So the third and final week into editing, the film is very near to complete, just requiring a few tweaks to provide a full cinema graphic feel.

We would like to give a big thanks to Dan Clark (FacebookFlickr, MySpace) for consultancy and production of some of our soundtrack, whilst fitting it around his study time at Leeds university.  He has provided us with a very moving piece which is needed to drive the theme of the screenplay.

Just a quick update

By Charlie on March 22nd, 2010

Today I have been working on a ident and playing around the end credits and trying to style them nicely, but in keeping with style of the story.

We are looking for a musician to provide us with some atmospheric music, which would create suspense but not be too scary or follow any clichés.

Back in one piece (just)

By Tom on March 15th, 2010

Finally home after our week long trip at St. Gabriels, in a nutshell it was the greateast and most daunting week of my life.

We fell behind on schedule after the first day, due to the misconception that the convent would remain open all night for late filming. However, this ultimately was not a bad thing as it made us press on and remain focused on catching up and getting all of our shots filmed.

Collaboratively as a group, we are very proud of our lighting rigs.  As the plot is set entirely at night, and the majority of our filming was allocated to daytime, we had to make use of our time to simulate night on the set, going to extreme lengths and using our initiative to make impromptu light blocks.

Currently we are in the capture stage of the edit, stay tuned as in the coming days/weeks we will be posting some teaser shots and promos from Forgotten Pasts.

2nd day of filming…

By Charlie on March 9th, 2010

Just a quick update with a few photos as promised.

We have finished the long corridor shot and have moved into the attic.
Lighting took longer than expected which forced us to be a bit behind schedule, then we discovered that we had a conflict of schedule with another production group, putting us further behind schedule. We will be shooting again after dinner and hopefully make some constructive progress.

First day at St. Gabbys

By Charlie on March 8th, 2010

Today at St. Gabriels we had a constructive few hours filming/setting up for scene 4 of our film, we had to simulate the night by blacking out the windows, one of which was rather large.

We will post pictures tomorrow when we have a bit more light.

Storyboards

By Tom on February 26th, 2010

I’m currently midway through scene 5 when it comes to storyboarding, having drawn and visualised over 100 shots.  I have received many criticisms and insults regarding skill and artwork of the drawings (*Ahem* Charlie and Liam), but ultimately, they provide some reference of how the shots should be composed, irregardless of how bad my drawings are!

Visuals should all be done by the final week, where we will then focus heavily on what equipment and props are needed for out shoot.

Script Drafts

By David on February 23rd, 2010

I have been updating the script for Forgotten Pasts and all mistakes have been corrected and ideas improved. The Script is now in its ninth draft and is looking promising. We are holding rehearsels today at 4:00 in the drama studio.
